Many people expect that just because they’re dining in a five-star restaurant that they’re going to get great service… in contrast, you might not expect good service in a diner. Fact is, regardless of price, concept, menu or customer expectations, your restaurant absolutely must strive to offer a level of service that I call “Paramount”.
I’ve always believed that great service is not just up to the waitstaff, but the entire front and back of house team.
It takes everyone in all positions to deliver an extraordinary dining experience, as every staffer impacts the guest’s visit to your restaurant. To be truly paramount requires consistent, effective training.
No matter where I dine in the good old USA, it so often happens that the owner or management emphasizes the food and ambiance over the service. This happens in indies as well as national chains. You’ve probably experienced this for yourself when you dine out in other restaurants.
I had the opportunity to dine out in two very different restaurants last week and the service varied dramatically. You might be surprised by my experiences.
Listen as I walk you through the nuances of each experience, picture the customer expectation and you’ll see what I mean by Paramount!Paramount is not just limited to service…its the whole approach to your organization across your restaurant.
